If there were no bad people, there would be no good lawyers.
Cyber Security Trends of 2007 in India
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is changing the way we deal in our daily lives. The benefits of ICT are numerous and so are its drawbacks. These drawbacks do not originate out of its “use” but due to its “misuse”. This necessitates the adoption and use of ICT and Cyber Security all over the World. The ICT Trends in India-2006[1], ICT Trends in India-2007[2], Cyber Security Trends by PTLB-2007[3], etc showed meticulously the contemporary requirements of ICT and Cyber Security in India and Worldwide.
The Cyber Law and Cyber Security must grow simultaneously as one without the other is useless. An ineffective Cyber Law would not bring robust Cyber Security whereas a weaker Cyber Security would make the Cyber Law redundant. The “Critical Infrastructure Protection in India” has still not got the attention of Government of India. PTLB TM/SM and Perry4Law have always been on the forefront of providing various Strategies and Recommendation to the Government of India on matters pertaining to Information and Communication Technology (ICT). A majority of their Recommendations and Suggestions have been accepted by the Government of India but still much has to be done in this direction. The ICT Trends in India-2006 and ICT Trends in India-2007 showed many “Loopholes” in the ICT Strategy of India. The ICT Strategy of India drastically needs rejuvenation. In short, ICT and Cyber Security Initiatives are still waiting for the “Political Will” to give them life and breath in India. We hope that ICT and Cyber Security will be taken seriously in 2008 by all concerned.
